Greetings to all! Finally bought my first compact tractor and at a very affordable price to boot! It is a M.F. 210-4 which is the 4x4 model, 25 h.p. with a M.F. quick tach loader and extra bucket for $3700. Does anyone have any experience with this tractor or know anything about it, as I haven't read anything about one on this board. One thing that the manual specifies is that with a loader attached, the rear wheels should be set at the maximum width. The only problem I see is that at this setting, the tires are spaced wider than the front bucket. Does it really hurt anything to keep the tires the same width as the bucket other than stability? I only have about 1 acre of land and no hills so stability really isn't all that critical. Any opinions greatly appreciated! By the way...I'd like to commend one and all on a truly informative, entertaining, professionally run board!

I don't have the same model as you, but i have a 21hp tractor with a rather narrow track (about the same as the bucket I believe.) The tractor only weighs 1500lbs, plus another 600 for the bucket, so I just keep the box blade on the back for ballast and stability when using the loader. It seems to work fine. There may be something I'm missing here, but if you're on level ground and proceeding cautiously, you should probably be ok without changing the track width all the time. ....

With a loader, be careful of traveling with the bucket raised and really careful if you are carrying weight off center of the bucket + raised = roll over. Obviously the wider setting would help but not necessarily prevent this, so just be cautious regardless of the width setting. Jerri ....

"Product Liability", Steve. They are covering themselves in case you turn the tractor over. Like the other guys said, the wider the tires are set apart, the more stable it'll be, but I think most folks are like me and want the bucket to be at least as wide as the outer edges of the tire tread. And with any loader, the operator just has to be careful! ....
